The Man Behind the Annual Forrest Ray 5K

forrest ray

Forrest Arthur Ray was a beloved husband, family man, teacher, musician and tireless library supporter. He originated the idea of a 5k to help raise money to expand and renovate the Downtown and Wesmark branches of the Sumter County Library System. Forrest passed away after the first 5k held in 2006, and the event was named in his memory and honor in appreciation for his work on behalf of the Sumter County Library and its mission to serve all members of the community.
