The Sumter County Library Children's Department has many educational computer resources for children available. Many software programs in math, language arts, science and social studies are available for children to explore. Programs include Oregon Trail, Science Explorer, Jumpstart for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and 3rd grade.
Also available for children is the state of the art AWE Early Literacy Station. The Sumter County Library was provided two ELS computers, one at the Main Library and one at the Wesmark branch, through a Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the South Carolina State Library. These computers feature large screens and excellent programs in all subjects for children ages 2 to 10 years of age. Children may use Encyclopedia Britannica, create digital artwork with the Paint feature, play music and much more. Early Literacy Stations are available at all three branches in English and Spanish.
